Default My son's 1977 Early Bronco Build

Here are the starting pics. He's done all the work with supervision from me.

This is the only pic we have from the original 1977 Early Bronco Ranger

2006: (Age 10) picked up the chassis

2006: (Age 11) Stripped it down in 1.5 hours

2006: Next the frame was acid-dipped and galvanized
(It's behind the tractor, better pic to be updated tomorrow)

2007: (Age 11) Then the frame was epoxy coated black

2007: We had 4.10 gears installed in the big bearing 9" rear and converted back to a '77 disc D44 front (the original chassis had the front end swapped out) NO PICS.

2008: Oil fill and drain added to 9"

2008: (Age 12) POR-15 to the axles and radius arms

2008: (Age 13) Installed 2.5" Wild Horses suspension lift

very cool to see your child starting out at an early age and a Bronco is the best choice on a rig build!

I recommended a carb'd 302, but he said he really wants EFI because "the price of gas is going to be so high when I turn 16"; so I guess we'll be looking for an '89-93 mustang mass air 5.0L. We already have the tranny and t-case in the garage. NP 435 granny low with a 205. We also have an EB D20 t-case we may end up getting an adaptor for to get even lower crawl.

Very cool, he's lucky to have a dad help him get involved so young! And to think he gets to start with an EB... I had to wait a while before I got mine

Not only is the project and father/son thing cool. In years when he is older and has the complete project he will have the pictures of both the vehicle and himself progressing along. I can imagine the memories it will bring back in the future for him.

Class A build, this rig should last him a very long time. Doing it himself he will have the skills and respect to care for it properly.
