Default exlorer gearing solutions,

i have a 92 explorer with 9 inches of lift, 36 in tsls, and it has 3 55 gears, this is not a good combo. i was wondering what options i would have for gears, is there any stock diffs that i would be able to swap out easily, or what is the highest ratio i could put on these carriers. i know its prolly not possible, but i would really like to put 488s.

4.10 is the best you can get stock for a D35 TTB and 8.8

I ran 4.88's in my D35 and 8.8 with 36" Iroks, that was a real nice ratio for the stock axles. MY explorer was also a 5spd. I wanted 5.13's, but the 5.13 gear set for the D35 was way to expensive and back ordered at the time. So i settled for 4.88's. I am now running a D44 8.8 with 4.88s and 36" TSL's still with a 5 spd. 4.88 is a good all around ratio with 36's for street and wheeling. Wish i had 5.13's though for wheeling sense i do not drive it on the street at all really.

why pump it back to the top? your questions were answered?????????????????

i suppose i missed one answer to a quetion, the TTB D35 and the 8.8's do not have carrier breaks, so your stock carriers will fit any gears they offer aftermarket
