im getting a winch for a jeep wrangler tj 1998

how much does a wrangler weigh lbs wise??


and two im getting a 6000lb winch for free will that be enough rated line pull or do i need something bigger?? how big??

Weighed my 97 TJ with dana 44's and 33" tires with aluminum wheels just last week at the gravel pit. It was 4,040 lbs. with me in it and 3/4 tank of gas. I am 190 lbs. That was with no top on it.

Gross Vehicle Weight x 1.5 = Minimum Rated Line Pull.
I also found this chart that'll help you find the weight of your TJ using your VIN #

I wouldn't use a 6000# winch for a jeep for anything other than a rare emergency. Even then I would figure on snatch blocking it most of the time.

8000# seems to be the most used. never really see anything lower than that on a tj.
thats what i have, however i have not had the chance to use it other than to pull me up a slight hill just for fun when it was first put on
