Default hot tub

well i went and got a hot tub today and it needs a little work done to it. now my question is where can i get parts for these things at? it needs a new manifold is what the guy told me (the pvc tube that has all the jet hoses comming off of it) as it is cracked and leaks also the water pickup at the bottom broke off (the strainer, he tried to re glus all these parts only for a big fat FAIL) so i need some parts needles to say, any info would be appreciated thanks.

btw it says cygnus on the electronic master control for all the jets, temp, etc, etc. also says conway corperation model number c3005ds4 on wooden frame, if any of that helps.

google is your friend

Spa packs run from about $300 to $1000.

Any spa store should be able to find parts for you. You may need to be good at fabricating some stuff like fittings. I have found that there are only a couple of manufacturers of the big stuff like motors and pumps and a bunch of companies that built the tubs. The companies making the tubs go out of business, or get bought out all the time. So you may need to get what's available and make it work.

if ya look good at the pipe pic you can see where the previous owner tried jb weld to fix the pipe, i plan on just making a new set up as it still leaks and i dont want any issues. the second pic shows it as of now ... when i clean it up ill take another pic. (it been sitting for 2 years with water in it ... ya it froze and broke stuff but the pump still works just not shure about heater yet)

It came with a dog?

That looks like a pretty easy fix if that's all that's wrong. That's one big tub. It is set up for 220v, right?

My dad worked for Polynesian/Emerald/Cygnus/Conway a bunch of years back . . . they were in Kentwood. Who knows if they are still in business. Sounds like you have it taken care of though.

Have fun and be prepared to spend some money. There's a reason so many people give them away dirt cheap when they start to fall apart.

I got a Calspa that was a basket case some time back. I replaced the wood enclosure, 1 pump housing and paid a guy to mess with the spa-pack and put it back together. I got lucky and only had to drop around $500, but I knew the history behind it as it was my father-in-laws.

Here's the bitch. The flow valve flaked out that winter, around the time it was about zero for a week straight. So it was running, but not heating. Needless to say, the insurance company paid about $2500 to fix it, including them building a tent around it to thaw it out first.

The solid-state spa packs are easy to work on, you just replace whatever piece goes wrong, provided you know how to use a meter and have some electrical knowledge along with a book or a shitload of info off of google. The ones with the boards suck, cuz when they flake out, you get stuck buying a new board.

I will never, ever buy another used tub again more than 2 years old. Actually, I put hot tubs up there with jet-skis. The cost of the unit means nothing, it's all the bullshit you need to actually keep them running that costs $$$$. Even if you have an ozonator, you still need some chemicals, which aren't cheap, and the electricity in the winter will scare the shit out of you. Replacement covers, filters, more chemicals blah blah blah.

Bleed the air out of your pumps before you run it. Very important.
