Default Winch cable repair and hook replacement.

I need to take about 5' of cable off the end of my winch as there are 2-3 strands frayed on the 5/16 cable.

I cut off the loose stuff and wound the winch back up for now but I would like to cut the bad section off and put a new hook on.

Any help / direction would be great.

BTW
Ramsey 8000 ProPlus Winch with 5/16 cable. Hook seems to be permanently attached to the cable.
