i'd pull the oil pan and bearing caps to see if it was run upside down. the pickup sucks from the bottom of the pan. no oil there equals starved engine.

just what he said, I had a friend of mine change the 3.8 out in his GTP with a engine from the bone yard with 36k on it, little did the yard disclose until he changed it and top swapped the block and it knocked in the first 3 miles did he know. they failed to disclose and since he top swapped it they would not take it back. He was out 2+ grand

I wouldn't buy anything for more than core value if I couldn't hear it run and check the oil pressure.

How many miles on it..Roll over can be bad new on motors. and very few I have seen have shut off right away. I think I would want to see how bad of a roll over it was personly.

he said maybe 2 seconds and then he shut it off he said it ran fine afterwards... so it basically comes down to that or a salvage yard engine for 425 that has 123k on it they said they ran test and checked the compression and it was fine...

if its hooked to the trans and you unsure you can take a oil pressure gauge over there and roll the motor over with some cables and a battery. then you can do you compresion tests so on an so forth

I bought a 4.0 for a cherokee that was rolled and I had no trouble with it. Try to talk him down a little!

Yep, as noted, its a crapshoot. If it was sitting there upside down for 90 seconds running without oil, that'd be pretty bad.

There are some engines that will actually hydrolock on their own oil in a roll (roll a toyota 3.0 on its passenger door, for example).

I'd definately pull the plugs to look for oil in the chambers.

ok well blew out the lower end of the engine today so its down to the jasper for 650 shipped he said he killed within 2 seconds of the roll over and said it ran great after... with no warranty or the salvage for 425 with 123k and a 30 day warranty they said they run tested fine before pullin it....
