Default Trans fluid or gear oil?

in a NP 208 t case? got everything back in for the trans and t case swap and it is leaking like a siv.should have used the gasket AND permatex. trans runs great, but i can see the fluid coming out of the t case right where it meets the mount.

My 208 has a tag on it specifing 30wt motor oil. Its the first time I have ever seen that. Mines out of a J-truck.

Usually you can use either. ATF lasts longer than oil though.

as stated you can run either.

atf in manual trannies and t-cases became popular in the early-mid 80s to reduce driveline drag and increase mileage and lower emissions.
