Default State Job Opening

http://web1mdcs.state.mi.us/vacancyweb/vacancyinq.asp

Direct link won't work.
Go to laborer 5/E6 in Ingham county with Management and Budget, job posting #2008-0460

Basically grounds work. Plowing/Snow removal, mowing, weeding, other stuff too.

The people in this position are the ones that break the equipment I have to fix. So if you are accident prone, don't bother. I already have enough work. :tonka:

Position is in downtown lansing or at the secondary complex. Lots of overtime in the winter if wanted. Fairly easy job. Your boss is an ass though. He is mine too.

Ass? As in "hostil work environment" ass? As in "prone to screaming, yelling, and throwing things"? Or is he the "you peons are always on the verge of being fired" boss who doesn't yell, but threatens a lot?

Ass as in "I'm right, you're wrong" and if he didn't think of it then it is dumb. He came from the private sector managing golf courses and says/does stuff that isn't really allowed in the government sector. Many people are suprised he is still employed. He isn't in the union, supervisors are non-union.

Do you know of any other State Job Openings? I need to find something a little closer to home, and I have been looking on the State's website for a few weeks.

What is closer to home? Most of the jobs in ingham are in lansing. Most in eaton are at the secondary in dimondale.

I work in Jackson right now, and my commute is 42 miles each way. Just about anything would be closer...

Erin used to work in jackson and we lived in holt/lansing. She drove her 95 GMC K1500 there and back daily. She ended up selling it and getting her corolla. Then she got a job in okemos.

I've worked for the state for 12 years. Most of the jobs are alright, they don't expect the world and it's somewhat easy to stay below the radar if you're a decent person. The benefits kick ass too.

Good advice-don't get a state job and expect to change what you will perceive as being kind of messed up. People that come from the private sector sometimes seem to have a problem with this, mostly those in management positions, such as lawnmower man. Things run way differently than they do in the regular world. Do what they want you to do, but not much more than that, and it will be easy sailing. Otherwise you'll be racking up the enemies real fast.

Yeah, I have kinda realized this. You would think though I could convince them to not drive over curbs when there is a curb cut 4 feet away or not grid their blades against the curbs.

But no.

I guess there will be a posting for the same position except it will be out here at the secondary complex.

Hey Flexin', was that you driving down Forest Road yesterday in a rather large tractor with a mower attached? (City mower it looked like, and the driver waved to me in my Heep).

Not me. I only work at the secondary complex or downtown. Our tractor with a land pride mower is a green John Deere. I only use that when they mow the track, cuts about an hour off their mowing time.

The track? Anyway, it was a green John Deere, followed by an orange city pickup truck..

The state police track. And I work for the state, not the city, so it wasn't me. Our trucks are dark green or dark blue.
