stoping without skidding with only rear brake slolum through cones acelerate then stop turns without putting foot down....ect

they give you more room for bigger motor in bike but you also have to be nimble on that bike..go with the rebel bigger displacement smaller type bike...but i think the rebel would be a good choice as it is a nimble bike...also you can go to sos and they will tell you what you wil have to do ...

Not sure why I am being this nice but here goes.

Test is a total of 10 scored areas, some done at the same time. There is a total of 6 events to score on, and no one area can fail you. Automatic failures are:
1] Dropping the motorcycle during the test.
2] Committing any unsafe act on the motorcycle
3] Failure to follow instructions

As for the tests themselves:

Event 1 Shifting, sharp turn, and stopping

Start at the 'T' in first gear, upshift to 2nd, downshift to 1st, make a sharp left turn thru the corner, back up to 2nd, back down to 1st as you stop with your front tire in the box. Keep your speed down, brake before the sharp corner and look thru it, not at the lines.

Event 2 Cone weave and U-Turn

Start at the 'T', go to the left of the first cone, right, etc., thru the 5 cones, make a 180 Deg turn and head back to the U-turn box. Enter the U-turn box straight in on the right side, and make the left hand U-turn. Use the friction zone of the clutch and your rear brake to control speed in the cone weave. On the U-Turn box, as soon as your front tire enters the box, turn the handlebars and get back out - don't go to the back of the box.

Event 3 Turning Speed Selection

Start at the 'T', make the 90 deg. left hand curve at speed. Stay in first gear, enter the curve at about 8 to 10 MPH, and gently accelerate thru the entire curve, exiting about 12 MPH. Stay within the lines.

Event 4 Stopping Quickly in a straight line

Start at the 'T', on signal accelerate to about 12 to 15 MPH. On signal stop in a straight line. (Return to start point when told). First gear here as well. Accelerate quickly and stabilize your speed. On signal stop as quickly and safely as you can. Try not to skid. If you overrev the motorcycle, stop anyway, then adjust the throttle.

Event 5 Stopping Quickly in a curve

On signal accelerate to about 12 to 15 MPH into curve. On signal stop in within the lines. (Return to start point when told).First gear here as well. Accelerate quickly and stabilize your speed. On signal stop as quickly and safely as you can. Try not to skid. Start near the right side line, and enter the curve early staying within lines. That will make this close to a straight line stop.

Event 6 Swerve

On signal accelerate to about 12 to 15 MPH. On signal swerve in the direction indicated by the tester thru the lane avoiding the obstacle line.First gear here as well. Accelerate quickly and stabilize your speed. Do not try to guess which way to swerve, stay straight down the middle of the lane until signaled.

Other thing the grade you on is Overall control through out the test. This is things like Skidding, stalling, looking at your controls. etc.

My pointers? Except for the first test where you have to shift, stay in 1st gear throughout the test. Don't hot dog, maximum speed you need to read would be 15 MPH, higher speeds just make the test harder. You can pass the test on any size motorcycle, depending on your skill level. However, it is easier on smaller displacement bikes.

These are just my thoughts on it. I am sure there are some experts on the site here who may give you different advise, go with what you want. Good luck.

A lot of community colleges have the course laid out. Some places that test will not let you practice at their location.

You don't need a permit. If the cops try to pull ya over just open up the throttle! You'll be famous! Can even be on the news if ya time it right! If you do take the test wheelies and stoppies really impress the instructors. And extra brownie points if ya don't wear a sissy helmet. (of course I'm just kidding)
