If both are running the same size tires and have lockers in the same axles I would probably say the cherokee is better on paper but in reality it would probably come down to the driver.

i'm partial to explorer over xj's for the simple fact that a cheap 4" lift can get you to clear 32-33's with no cutting, whats an xj need to clear a 32 with no cutting 6"?

What is this no cutting non-sense you speak of?

4.5" will clear 32's, but extended bumpstops will be necessary to keep them out of the sheet metal.

yeah im with you there, i got 5" of lift (with the stock bumpstops) for about $250 give or take, i dont rub at all even with wheel spacers, and with the coils in the front and the TTB it rides awesome, i just need some new extended shocks

the TTB does ride very nice, it just has a bad rep off-road.

yeah i know and i dont know why. its the perfect balance between strength and ride quality. Its in between an IFS and solid axle. You can get great articulation with extended radius arms and its handles and rides great. the only thing i dont like about it is the extra u-joint in the axle shaft and the toe in problem with the stock drop brackets from coil spacers.
