Default Guess I should have invested in Geo Metro's for retirement....

http://www.cnn.com/2008/LIVING/wayof...tro/index.html

$7300 for a 1996 Geo Metro

There was one for $600 last summer by my house - in awesome shape.

i heard that on wrif the other morning. something about women going wild over guys in geo's vs. studly suv's.

even w/gas over $4/gallon. how long do you have to drive it to recoup your $$ ? insurance, tires, maintenance, etc... i think it's a knee-jerk reaction myself.

I had a Metro XFI in college. I think my mom bought it new for $6kish in 93 and gave it to me after she put less than 5k on it. I gave it back after about 5 months. It was too small. I bought a New Yorker, which was more suited to my smoker lifestyle. Besides, gas was under $1, so who really gave a shit about economy.

I could fill it up for under $10 and drive forever. I lived it TC then, and it didn't do much of a job of keeping itself warm in the winter, and the wind driving along 31 would scare the shit out of you.

I would say I wish I had it now, but it would be an old rusty pile of shit. Besides, my maxima is pulling almost 30.

I drive $500 miles per week and even with a fullsize truck that gets 16-17 mpg's the metro at 35 mpg's and a 2500 purchase price takes about 2 years to pay for the car, and another 6 months to pay for hte insurance. This does not take into account maintenance at all....

A metro that gets that bad of mileage belongs in a junk yard, well more so than the good running metros.
