I didn't feel like reading through the other thread bitching about seat belt laws. So sorry if it is a . Also I have not verified any of the zones myself.

But here is a link to the seat belt enforcement zones through the weekend. You must have MS Excel to view.

ENJOY

What happens at these? Do they check ids of everyone driving by or what exactly happens at a checkpoint? Just a visual of the driver as he drives by??

Here's a pdf version for those non-excel having peeps...

When I went through one a couple years ago. It was just a visual. A couple officers standing in the road and if you did not have your seat belt on they would direct you to other officers that would write you a ticket.

For me, its less about getting a seat belt ticket, and more about the idiots that SLAM on their brakes when they see a line up of squad cars waiting to pull them over.

I passed one on Orchard Lk between 14 & 13 on Monday. Basically how it works is one of the officer's parks his car in the left hand turn lane (facing north bound in this case). He stands outside of his car and calls in models and colors of cars (heading southbound) to the line of officers lined up ready to pull you over. It backs traffic up for about a 1/2mile, so if you find your self in a traffic jam in an unusual spot/time, its probably a good idea to buckle up if you havent already.

I've also seen them with the "call it in guy" just standing on the side of the road. Either way, to my knowledge it's not a check point like set up where they stop every car, its much more inconspicuous.

Another thing...When they had one in Auburn Hills about a year ago, they were pulling people over into the parking lot of my office. I would say 1 out of 12 people that I saw get pulled over that day were cuffed and taken away. Warrants, Driving on a revoked/suspended, visably drunk at 10:30am, etc.
