Default My XR650L

I picked up a XR650L today. Took it out to the mounds, and I am in love, lol, so much power. Its a '93 with 5700 miles on it.

If you don't mind my asking, what did you drop on it? Was considering getting one. My brother picked up a Yamaha to drive to work last summer, getting over 50 mpg with it.

I got a really really good deal, it was my buddies bike, he did like the fact that it was just going to be sitting in the garage rotting so we made a deal, I payed $1000 for it. Ive seen them going for upwards of 2k.

The 650 is fun in the woods too, but in the summer I usually get way to tired and then unsafe things start happening. Same prob I have on my YZ490 though as well.

Good deal!
I am looking for something like that myself. I would like a big bore, but think a 400 would be better suited for trail riding.

Yea a 400/450 with a big bore kit makes a great woods bike. Upgrade certain parts to lighten it up, shorten the bars, put some armor on it, then wrap it around a tree.

With the lighteness it really is a better tight woods bike. If you are looking at that type of bike you may want to look at some of the Trials manufactures offer in enduro. Gas Gas has always worked good for me and I would love to get my 370 trials motor into an enduro frame. But I went a 490 2 stroke instead, too much power for tight woods.

KTM EXC 300 = best woods bike ever invented.

Back on topic, thats a pretty good deal and those things are rock solid reliable, you have any plans to make the bike street legal?? I'd be interested in what kind of MPG that thing would pull during a commute......

I knew the newer ones were, but I didn't think the older early 90's models were.....but, I guess if I really looked at the pics, I could have seen that

I spend a while today cleaning it up a bit, here is another picture. And yes, the L came from the factory street legel, as soon as I get it plated and my endorsement I will be commuting with it.

+1, but the 300 doesn't make a very good commuter bike.

on the deal on the Honda.
