Default "Green Week" Event starting Saturday (4/19 - GR Area)

I thought some of you tree-hugging, Earth muffin types (like myself) might enjoy this event. If you're in the Grand Rapids area, stop by for some great information & promotions. We're easy to find...right on Lake Michigan Drive 15 minutes due west of Grand Rapids.

Allendale True Value (CLICK HERE for directions)
5425 Lake Michigan Drive
Allendale, MI 49401
616.895.5400

*******************
Join Allendale True Value April 19 - 26 for a "Green Week" event to celebrate Earth Day, and "living green".

There will be great promotions on environmentally-friendly products, as well as demos & presentations on topics such as Geothermal Heating (Patton Mechanical), Solar Photovoltaics & Solar Hot Water (Bauer Power), Green Cleaning (WMEAC), Green Gardening & Fertilizing (Scotts), Rain Gardens (WMEAC/Raingardens.org), Compact Florescent Light (CFL) demo (GE), and hazardous waste recycling from the Ottawa County Resource Recovery Centers.

The complete schedule can be seen on the Allendale True Value Calendar of Events.

This will also be the official launch of True Value’s "Greener Options" products – a broad selection of items that have been deemed environmentally-friendly in at least one of four categories.

Live Green. Reduce your Ecological Footprint. Affect Change.

P.S. if you're a weirdo who thinks trying to help the environment is a scam, just remember, a lot of times, when you're conserving energy, it's cheaper.

CFL bulbs alone can make a HUGE impact on your electric bill (1/2 reduction, in some cases). We're actually running a Buy One, Get One promo on GE CFL bulbs starting tomorrow. GE's site has a savings estimator, as well.

Those lightbulbs suck. I mean I know your saving some money but I like instant light when I turn on the light. Especially in a dark room . . . hmm.... just something to think about.

the couple seconds it takes for them to turn on is worth saving 1/2 on my energy bill. I have been changing them out in the house as they burn out and the electric bill is less than last year. I think last month was $49.00.

Do they have CFL air conditioners out yet?

if you need instant light, maybe you could have one compact fluorescent and one incandescent in the room when you flip on the lights. just a thought. nothing wrong with saving some energy. also, i like the light the CFL's put out better. it's about time we stop using 100 year old technology, it's like DDing a model T.

Where I grew up, we called something an earth muffin, but you don't want to be related to it.:tonka:
I think I will come over and drive my gas guzzlers up and down the street.

The Ottawa County Resource Recovery Center will also be on-hand (right behind the CFL display) to educate people on recycling these bulbs...they do contain a small amount of mercury.
