for some reason that jeep reminded me of the dirtbike they built at the end of the movie "Winners Take All." A hackjob with pieces from everywhere not put together with any taste.

stingers were designed for wheeling on arctic wheeling/exploration. if your tires fall into a cravass the stingers keep you from droping in. but one that big clearly has one purpose, to spot it in the walmart parking lot.

Look at the cover picture of the April 2008 Petersens 4 wheel and offroad, you will see yet another use for a stinger

I thought it looked ok. I don't see any use for a stinger in this area other than a handy tool to get caught in trees during tight turns.

I saw one being used for the winch cable to go over to get a higher point to pull from to get a stuck buggy out of the rock garden down in Harlen, Ky.

It took 3 or 4 trucks with winchs to get him out, he split his oil pan open open on a rock, probably did more than that to the crank.

I have also seen the ones for the expedition trucks on the glaciers, just was unsure of the actual purpose.

Now I know and knowing is half the battle.
