Default Patrick's new room (what happens when you let me pick the paint scheme..)

OK, the other thread has me bummed, thinking about bad stuff happening to kids

So heres a happy thread. My 3 yr old is moving from his old room to a new room, so the new baby can take the old room. So decided to do something different with the room, to make it cool for him. Here's what I came up with. I'm still adding things. Last night added some butterflies, ladybug, caterpillar, bees, a few more flowers, etc. I want to find some glow in the dark stars now, for the ceiling, and then I think it will be done.

Note: normal latex house paint is really tricky to use for this kind of thing. Its too thin and runny.

The view coming up the stairs:

Of course, when I painted the tree, a dang squirrel showed up..

So we sent out the dogs to take care of it

nice work, the wife repeatedly does murals, and theme rooms for the boys. max had an aquarium theme for a while, based on the book "max the minow"

jake had a construction theme for a while, but is now all space, and max's is sports+loft themed.

while I built the loft, I didn't participate in the painting, or borders n stuff. It's just not my forte' This time around the wife didn't feel like free-handing the murals like last time(s) so most of the artwork was purchased (borders) or printed on the high-end color laser printers then tossed in cheap painted frames.

Point is, very cool to make your kids' room an exciting place for them to hang out in, instead of just a place to sleep, or be sent for punishment :)

I just wanted to comment on the glow in the dark star's......

Years ago there was a company that did....or sold , templates of the constilations.....I dont know who it was......But when you laid out the templates...It completely covered the size of the room's ceiling...(I think you gave them the dimensions of the ceiling so they could scale it )

Once painted with glow-in-the dark paint...also part of there kit...

Turn on a black lite......and ......WOW it looked so real, it was amazing !!!

I think it was only $100 bucks or so.......Sorry I dont have any real info about the Company....maybe some one can find a link ???

Looks good Jason, very nice work

I plan to repaint my son's room in a couple years. Right now everything in there is Thomas related. I think when he turns 7 (he's 3 now) I'm going to paint it like the inside of a Las Vegas Brothel Good times, good times
