Default Pole building or Steel building?

Me and my dad are thinking of putting up a building, somewhere around 5000 sq. ft. (haven't decided on the exact size yet). What would you guys think is better? I know steel buildings cost more initially, but how much? Would insurance be cheaper for a steel building or would it be about the same?

I'm just trying to get some ideas here on which way to go. I haven't actually sat down and talked to my dad about this yet, we've just been getting some ideas together.

So if you you were to build one, which way would you go and why?

what are you using it for. My old boss just out up a new building on the farm and is fairly happy with it. It's pole sides with steel on it, but the top is arched with canvas over the top, and acrossed what would be the gable on the front and back. Lower unit is all covered in steal. I believe the cost was farily low he put up a steal building about 5yrs before that and switched to this set up the second time around.

Let me know and I can probably get yousome pics of the outside of the building.

That one?

I'm looking for something for a business me and my dad are planning. I'm thinking around a 40x150 (or 40x120, 50x100, somewhere in that area depending on what equipment we get) or so, but not entirely sure on the size. Any nice buildings up here that we were looking at are around $300k, trying to see if we can build one by his sawmill for cheaper.

Anyone know any good sites where I can get an estimate on a price?

Also, what is easier to insulate? Do steel buildings require a full foundation or can they be built on a slab? I don't know that much about either, pros, cons and such, so any help is appreciated. My dad knows more about it than me, but I'm trying to do as much research as possible.

my dad and I put up a pole building 35x32 with 30' 8x8's sunk 8 feet i think. the two of us built it in spare time over a spring/summer/fall. only extra equip we needed was rental of a lift for the scissor trusses. not nearly as bad as we had expected to put up.

we went to a lumber supply place to get it as a 'kit' that included the steel skins, channels, cement, wood, nails etc. (minus trusses, we went to a family friend business for those)
