im not getting any spark to the coil on my 83 ram and i dont really know what the problem is and dont know what the next step is or what to check next any help would be great! my buddy said maybe bad ignition switch???? but im not sure because it crancks and everything just no power to the coil..
a little trouble shooting info for dodges : if it cranks and starts then stalls when you relese the key the ballast resistor is bad if it cranks but wont start at all the most likely culperate is the ignition modual on the fire wall
its a common problem on dodges the modual and the ballast resistor the moduals just tend to break down from heat and age the epoxy on the back of them starts to not seal as well and they corrode inside
alright worked on it yesterday and today. yesterday it almost started it kinda fired a few times but wouldnt run. so i redid the timing today cause i thought thats what was wrong but not getting spark again. im only getting 4.6v to the coil. we hooked it straight to the battery figuring it would get 12v then but still no spark. didnt try the pick up coil yet. thanks for any help
