08 F350 XLT, 6.4 twin turbo (she moves) i got the tow cammand system with upfitter switches and some other dodads
so far 10.5 mpg (ouch) but the motor only has 400 miles, its my first ext cab but so far i like it. now i can take the fam with me to fo wheeling and no one has to ride bitch.
does anybody know if there is a good programmer or chip to help my mpg's?
You have to be kidding me. Banks is 98% bullshit marketing and 2% useful technology. There are MANY better alternatives to their overpriced, overhyped, under engineered crap. The tornado and fuel line magnets are a better option than Banks.
I have a few friends that have 6.7L cummins crew cab 4x4's and the mileage sucks on them too. If you want to get some mileage you have to get that DPF off from your truck....check out spartentechdiesel. Matt has a tune thats making 500+RWHP from the 6.4L with just tuning and removing the DPF/DOC. Not to mention most guys removing the DPF's are getting in the 17+mpg range. Same goes for the 6.7L its a turd for fuel mileage as well. But I have heard several people getting much better mileage once they remove the dpf and block EGR coolers.
the 6.7s are a great damn motor my buddy gets 22mpg with his on the high way and 15 in town. and for those who are gonna ask, well whats all done to it: 6 in rough country lift, 37x12.5x17's cooper stt's, chip, strait piped 4 in exhaust with dpf delete, sb cold air, south bend dual disk clutch, and i cant remember what else right now. and it tows like there is nothing behind it
:blah: well that goes against all of what the forums say and several of my friends 6.7ls. Im sure its a very nice truck though. The cummins is a bad motor!
I got 35mpg the other day with my 6.4L pulling 15k through the rockies:finger:

I'm not gonna bash either motor. Any of the '07 and newer engines are basically the same routine; in order to be reliable and get somewhat acceptable mileage, you gotta remove the DPF and EGR. The 6.4s proved to be a pretty awesome motor and are proving to be capable of making upwards of 600hp with just a tune, deletes, intake and exhaust, which is pretty incredible. I think it's turned out to be a great motor. However, there are some incredibly strong running 6.7s out there too, with just the same basic mods. The 6.7 ran into some issues with the DPF and EGR as well at first, just like the Job 1 6.4s. I can't wait until the 6.7 Powerstroke comes out. It's going to be rather interesting...
installed a spertan 210 programmer with a DPF delete, WOW better milage and mor ponys
will have to see, but it looks like im seeing a 10% to 15% in mpg's and i only have 12k on the motor
Nice truck. My 94 turbo idi 7.3 gets 8-13 mpg depending on load. It seems to hover around the 10 mpg with combined driving. Seeing your posts makes me feel better knowing not every Power Smoker out there is getting 22 mpg. Even though my truck is an old school 7.3, it pulls like a mad dog. It's good enough for me, I don't have the coin to buy a new truck.
i hope by time she's broke in to be in the mid to upper teens. my buddy has a 6.0 CAI, 150 tune and 4" exhaust w/ cat del. and he is around 20 per gal. but he dont work her like i do
they move but have all kinds of promles and stop erevy 100 miles for fuel i hate them hey your truck i drove a brand newe one as a plow truck this year
Damn nice truck, I have read nothing but good about the spartan tuners on the 6.4, seen a few put down over 500rwhp. The noise level on the 6.4 is amazing, you can't even hear them running next to mine...hard to believe its a diesel when it is running at idle. As you found out, the worst part is the mileage...but that tuner and DPF delete should really help out.
On my 6.0, I can get around 18mpg if I keep it around 60-65 on the highway....that is with 3.73 gears and 38's. City driving is around 13 if I take it easy (which I rarely do). Pulling a trailer kills it though, last weekend I averaged 8.9 mpg's pulling my 24' flatbed with 2 quads and my RZR on it (total weight probably 5-6000lbs), which really sucks for a diesel IMO. Hopefully a set of 4.30's or 4.56's will help that out.
