I've had traveler's, progressive and now state farm. Surprisingly state farm was a lot cheaper than progressive here in WI... Like almost $500/yr cheaper. Personally it's not worth the hassle to save myself $100/yr to go with some no name company that has no reputation that will probably screw me if I need to make a claim.
Just switched from State Farm to Allstate. Cannot say anything about their service because I have never made a claim on anything. State Farm just kept slowly raising my rates. I called em a few months ago asking for any more discounts, put one car as limited use but still full coverage. Was supposed to drop my monthly by a decent amount, next month went up again so I switched everything (House, 3 cars full coverage, 1 PLPD and 2 storage). Saved a lot of money doing that all. Plus I like Allstate's TV commercials with that 'mayhem' guy
I may switch my one car to Farmers in the spring because I heard that they will cover damage on open track days. That may be something good for off road too. I dunno how insurance works if you are in a field and total your truck
I have Meemic also, way cheaper than State Farm. My wife is a teacher and that is how we got it. Being a member to certain credit unions qualifies you to join as we'll, at least by me they do.
I have progressive, its cheap and i can change it online super easy, i take insurance on and off bikes and projects quite often. But i should really change since it means im funding an America hating company.
If anyone here has a grandparent or parent that served in the military (or served yourself) and you aren't using USAA for insurance you're absolutely nuts.
AAA
Consistently high rates.
Consistently outstanding service.
My FIL hunts for insurance all the time. It seems that once you are with a cheaper company for a year or two, they jack up your rates to more than you were paying before the switch, so you need to get another insurance.
I don't like spending time on the phone to talk to insurance agents. My time is more valuable to me than to stress every year where I am going to insure my stuff.
Liberty Mutual - Been with them for the better part of 10 years. I have 3 vehicles and my home and I have every discount available to me. I haven't found one insurance company that can come close to their rates. Been pretty happy with them.
suggest you talk to bodyshop managers/owners as to which company(s) give the customer the best bang for the buck, best no-quibble or least hassle service.
just went thru this and state farm came out one of the top customer-friendly outfits. sometimes a little more $$ in premiums pays for ease of getting something fixed.
I use 21st. Had to make a claim on totaling my leased car last November and they paid it minus my deductible with no arguments. It's been by far the cheapest insurance for me out there and have even saved a couple friends some money when they switched too.
I'll be making the switch to meemic pretty soon. 140ish for progressive for a little above plpd coverage for one car. I have no accidents and my wife and I are 27 and 28 with 2 kids. Went to Meemic when one of our friends told us about them. Under a 100 for full coverage AND renters insurance.
I'd check into them. I have an MSUFCU account and they accepted it before they figured out I work, technically, for Spring Arbor University.
