I have a few friends that have 6.7L cummins crew cab 4x4's and the mileage sucks on them too. If you want to get some mileage you have to get that DPF off from your truck....check out spartentechdiesel. Matt has a tune thats making 500+RWHP from the 6.4L with just tuning and removing the DPF/DOC. Not to mention most guys removing the DPF's are getting in the 17+mpg range. Same goes for the 6.7L its a turd for fuel mileage as well. But I have heard several people getting much better mileage once they remove the dpf and block EGR coolers.

the 6.7s are a great damn motor my buddy gets 22mpg with his on the high way and 15 in town. and for those who are gonna ask, well whats all done to it: 6 in rough country lift, 37x12.5x17's cooper stt's, chip, strait piped 4 in exhaust with dpf delete, sb cold air, south bend dual disk clutch, and i cant remember what else right now. and it tows like there is nothing behind it

exactly:thumb: Im glad someone is honest about fuel economy. Man I have done so many tricks to get fuel economy with diesels, and a lot of them help to get you higher mileage. Like last weekend I pulled my enclosed 21 ft snowmobile trailer (loaded weight 6k lbs) I was pulling it fast like 80mph. I was running my spartan 250 tune, and I got 10.2mpg(hand calculated). Well some jerk off with a lifted cummins dually told me he just pulled at 80mph pulling 8klbs and got 15mpg. No offense to cummins lovers, cuz its not just cummins guys that lie about fuel economy, its people in general are ignorant and have no clue. I have a buddy with a 6.4L on 37s, 6" lift with a spartan 310 tune and tells me he can get 21-22mpg. BULL CRAP!
Just about every new diesel owner refuses to believe that their truck doesn't get 25 mpg. The best I've seen out of my 5.9 on 35"s was about 19 MPG taking it incredibly easy on the highway with my Comp box on 1 and the fueling turned all of the way down. A while back, some guy on cummins forum was trying to convince people his truck got 26 mpg. When he got called out, he came back and claimed he got 22 mpg "hand calculated" and was all upset that his mileage was so poor. I just laughed.

In all honesty, the best mileage I've ever seen came from my dad's old '02 Duramax. That truck could get around 20 mpg on the highway on stock tires. Now my '99 7.3 rolling on 44"s... I don't even want to talk about that.:sonicjay:

My 02 duramax with PPE hot ET I got 20MPG as well. Granted that was with a sled in the bed, and 60mph easy driving. Same conditions this year I got 19mpg with my 6.4L with a sled in the bed and a spartan 250 tune (60-65mph).

Nice truck. My 94 turbo idi 7.3 gets 8-13 mpg depending on load. It seems to hover around the 10 mpg with combined driving. Seeing your posts makes me feel better knowing not every Power Smoker out there is getting 22 mpg. Even though my truck is an old school 7.3, it pulls like a mad dog. It's good enough for me, I don't have the coin to buy a new truck.

Damn nice truck, I have read nothing but good about the spartan tuners on the 6.4, seen a few put down over 500rwhp. The noise level on the 6.4 is amazing, you can't even hear them running next to mine...hard to believe its a diesel when it is running at idle. As you found out, the worst part is the mileage...but that tuner and DPF delete should really help out.

On my 6.0, I can get around 18mpg if I keep it around 60-65 on the highway....that is with 3.73 gears and 38's. City driving is around 13 if I take it easy (which I rarely do). Pulling a trailer kills it though, last weekend I averaged 8.9 mpg's pulling my 24' flatbed with 2 quads and my RZR on it (total weight probably 5-6000lbs), which really sucks for a diesel IMO. Hopefully a set of 4.30's or 4.56's will help that out.
