There is still a couple options when it comes to transfer cases
It's either a 242,247 or 231 if my memory serves me right
And if it's the same as a zj it should work as long as the input shaft is long enough to meet the seal in the trans
What does the tag tell you its on the back of the tcase like right in the middle it will tell u easy on take a pic of the tcase selector inside the car and we can figure it out
The tailshaft/speedo housing is different on the WJ t-case since the speedo is read off of the ABS tone rings. It is probably possible to make an earlier TJ/XJ/ZJ case work by swapping the housing but I don't know for sure, probably easiest just to get one that'll bolt right up. I don't know if there were input shaft length differences on the WJ between the 4.0 and 4.7 like there were for the ZJ. There were 3 case variations available, the 242, 242HD (rare), and the 247.
