MIS to offer camping Memorial Day to Labor Day in MISCamping.com Graves Farm Campground

BROOKLYN, Mich. (April 20, 2010) — Camping at Michigan International Speedway is no longer limited to just NASCAR weekends in June and August.

Now, campers and outdoor enthusiasts can enjoy the Midwest’s premier NASCAR destination seasonally from Memorial Day to Labor Day.

The MISCamping.com Graves Farm Campground, the speedway’s newest campground off U.S. 12 just past M-50 in Brooklyn, Mich., is open for seasonal camping May 28 to Sept 6.

“We are regarded as NASCAR in a national park, and now everyone, not just race fans, will know why,” speedway President Roger Curtis said. “We are happy to share our campgrounds with guests all summer long, making MIS and the Irish Hills a true, summertime destination and the perfect vacation.”

Sites in the MISCamping.com Graves Farm Campground are 25-foot x 50-foot, perfect for every type of camper — RV, pop-up, trailer and tent. All sites have electric hook-ups. Rustic sites are also available.

The MISCamping.com Graves Farm Campground has a permanent shower and restroom building, making it one of the best-kept secrets in the region. The campground has walking trails, volleyball courts, fire pits, horseshoe pits, playground and picnic shelters. Dogs are also allowed in the campground. Sites are only $25 per night, a reasonably priced alternative for families who love camping in a pristine, secure park. Don’t have an RV, but would like to rent one? A turn-key camping option is also available at www.MIScamping.com or by calling 734-740-4444.

On a race weekend, Michigan International Speedway is the state’s largest registered campground with around 9,000 campsites. But Curtis wants to share MIS with campers who might not otherwise travel to MIS on a race weekend, ensuring even more tourists can travel to Southeastern Michigan this summer.

“We have been asked by some of our NASCAR guests to open up year-round so campers can enjoy MIS all summer, so we’ve decided to give it a try. The Irish Hills area is a really beautiful destination for vacationing families. This area has lakes, trails, wonderful golf and amazing scenery and people — perfect for anyone looking to escape.”

Campground check-in is after 12 p.m.; checkout is before noon. The campground will be open every day, and will be patrolled by security 24 hours a day.

For campers interested in reserving a seasonal campsite at MIS, call, click or come by MIS at 517-592-1285, www.MISpeedway.com/seasonalcamping or 12626 US 12, Brooklyn, Mich.
