just finishing up my tj and my buddys tj(wheelsofsteele). he did a 60 front w 60 rear out of a 79 ford. had a rubicon long arm so we changed the upper links in rear, tossed the rear trackbar and built a 3 link for the front. i did a 60 front 14 bolt rear,3 link front, leaves in the rear. streched to 103. i built new arms for the front and 2.5 currie joints. will post up pictures and more detail when i figure out how to get these pictures in photobucket. we started mikes jeep july 29 sun night and finishing it up today. his tj is a 1997 mine is a 2003. there is some diffrent stuff between the years.i will give detail on what we ran into.
You are going to want to beef up your upper link mounts on the axle end. Add some gussets or box them in. The uppers take 100% of the rotational stress of the axle.
cory saw a few guys running them when he went down there.the guys with the rail buggy's have been running them for years i guess.1/2 bolts with big nuts on them i believe is what cory said they were.they go all the way through the tire.
Guys that run ice races have run them for a long time, but they sharpen them too. I would think it would be a serious downgrade in traction on the rocks though.
finally got my gas tank in and radiator about done.had to cut a bar to get my tank back in.after i scratched the tank up real good..hope that shit will buff out.
i already told the guy i am in. there was 8 spots left. was going to sign up next week for all three.but if you wanna spend some of that free money you just won..sign us up now!!
i need my ram and my orbital.i ordered the orbital from motion industries in saginaw.(that was the closest ones i could get the special part number from.)they told me it would be a month..my ram on the other hand is plain bullshit and i am sick of the guy from eagle machine giving me a new story every week.i am giving him this week and if i dont have it i will look elsewhere.
i have 2 orbitals sitting on my bench if you want to use one until yours gets here.
