programmer. programmer. programmer. I had a 2000 5.4 with the 4r100. They shift too early and soft. They also apply the torque converter in at weird times. I put a Superchips program in there and wham-O, perfect. My superchips allowed me to raise the shift points and line pressure. I loved the way that truck drove after that. Now I have a 2004 6.0 with the Torqueshift. It is far better feeling trans.
The last trans service was at 90k at the dealer. It has 150k on it now. Probably time for another service.
Ideally I would put a shift kit in but I guess that is all done at the pump instead of the valve body area. I'm not equipped to pull the drivetrain at this time.
And that's not the first time I've heard that a simple programmer will fix the sloppy trans. I'm just amazed that they would build and sell such a slushy slushbox. I'm thinking about just grabbing an off the shelf unit and plugging it in. Stupid trans
I would install a Trans-go HD2 tugger kit and a .500 line mod valve. Even if you don't do the few pump mods it helps a ton and makes it shift like it should.
Good links, thank you. Maybe I'll give that stuff a go. The cost seems worth a try especially since I need a spill and fill soon anyhow.
