I have the 3/8" stud 9" axle end caps. There is a lot of load on the seal to get it to where it is at in the picture, there is about 3/16" gap and I do not want to tighten it up anymore, for fear of ruining it. The outer bearing seal does not fit into the cap. Should it fit into it? I can not find the old ones, I started this a long time ago and am finally starting to make some progress. This is a SET 20 timken bearing set. Is there a different seal for the smaller stud housing? Do I have to buy different caps?
I got this axle from a junkyard, do not know the specific year it came from. I'm thinking it's from a Bronco, because it was the narrowest one they had. Both axle shafts are the same length, 31 spline.
Any thoughts?
