These weekend packages were opened up for those that don't want to compete for position during Loonie Run when there are dozens of rigs all over the place. Like someone mentioned earlier, small groups of capable rigs. Someone would look at being with 4-8 other rigs on one of these weekends. This allows plenty of one on one time, as well as no worries of holding up others. It also allows for time to focus on what other people are doing and learning from that.
I won't deny that you could do all this on your own. I just took the time to organize the hassle of figuring out some of the other parts of a trip like that(i.e. rooms, directions, contacts, some food, knowing where to go.......blah blah blah)
Well your my hero, I have no clue how to find my own way north, let alone a hotel room. I'll just take my long arm bolted on suspension down to the Kmart parking lot and climb snow banks.
