That's basically exactly what i'm doing with mine. I had an idea for the D rings though that i haven't seen before. I think i'm going to weld the D ring part to a square piece of 3/16" then put the D ring mount through the holes i'll put in the bumper then weld it on the face and weld the square on the back of the bumper. That way it will spread the pulling load out onto a larger surface, not just the weld on the back of the bumper. You'd basically have to pull so hard that you would break the welds.
