Default Tracker in need of Traction!

I have been building up a 90 Geo Tracker, I am new to these and I am looking for a little advice.
My goal is for a fun roadable woods rig but I don't wish to sink too much doe into it. I have just installed 31" Super Mudders, 2" suspension lift, slight fender trimming, and a 2" body lift. I have read up on a "The Fozzy Alteration" to the Third Members gears where they weld in 4 places, but recommended for off road only. Is this what is done when people talk about a welded differential? I see one company that has developed a Front Locker but $400 is a bit more than I want to spend without careful consideration. If I ran a locker in the front could I use a spool in the rear and still have a good roadable machine?
And lastly should I toss the Sway Bars for improved articulation? If I do will it dangerously effect road safety?
Any advise would be appreciated.
