Whats more, and what probably explains your story, is the fact that they came with the 9.5" 14 bolt semifloating rear axle, and yes, the 1500s were 8 lug bolt patterns.

Jason, did the 1/2 ton Suburbans w/6.5TD still used the 1/2 front diff or the 3/4 ton 9.25". And I assume in the 1/2 tons they put the 4l80e behind the 6.5TD and not the 4l80e like my 5.7L has.
Now the Blazers with the 6.5TD what rear axle did they use the SF 14 or 10bolt?
Whats really sad is tow ratings on some Suburbans. My 99 w/5.7L and 3.73 gears is rated to tow 6000 or 6500....the Suburbans 1/2 & 3/4 w/6.5TD are rated to tow the same amount. Oh you could also get 4:10's with the 6.5TD in Burbys. I don't believe the 4:10's where availible for the 5.7L only 3:42 & 3.:73.
