When I pull someone, I use my rear crossmember, which is designed for pulling (2.5" x 4" x 0.25" rectangular tube with a 4" x 0.5" thick tab running all the way through it welded front and back, with additional gussets).

The front, I use a 1" thick tab on each framerail, but I've beefed up and triangulated the front crossmember area.

Come to think of it, I've never had to be pulled forward, yet..
