Thoose motors are more tried and tested than any diesel pickup motor on the market, they're easy to get power out of, and you can beat the snot out of them and they sit there asking for more. I'm not a big fan of the duramax, and I wouldn't buy the first-year production of any motor, that's just me though.

Cummins. Hands down.

exactly. I think all of the new diesels are pretty BA in stock form except for one one can tune them like the older diesels. Untill some briliant aftermarket exhaust company can bypass the DPF your going to see diesels staying stock for a while. If I didnt buy a 6.0L headgasket eater I would have bought an 06 Cummins 5.9L.
