That's why I pointed out that this has been brought up before (by me), so I don't know why you are trying to convince me with the "black & white" argument.
The rule was never left up to interpretation. The example that was provided was enforced. The problem was that people would read the example and not follow it. What we're really doing here is proposing a way to "spell it out" for everyone.
In the beginning, all the "Rules" were written more like suggestions. The title was changed to "Rules", but not much of the text has been changed over time.
