It was more white smoke than anything and got really bad after sitting at idle for a while. I just don't understand why it still runs fine and clears right up while driving... I had a duramax do exactly what this truck is doing, then one day BAM is blew a cylinder and left the entire city smoked out while driving it to the scrap yard.
is it making proper boost and power? White smoke can be a host of things including unburnt diesel (if an injector was leaking).

Would the guy care if you took it somewhere and got a buzz test and cylinder contribution test?
