Truth....since DOM also has a seam.

DOM is ERW tube (either hot or cold formed) that is then reworked using mandrel to "adjust" the OD and ID. The side affect of the secondary cold-working process is better strength, but the weld seam is still there.

As long as the chassis design is good, some form of STRUCTURAL tubing is used, and the welds are good...the chassis will hold up to plenty of abuse.
