Not the outer.... I know the inner is a press fit... this is an awful long way to press a bearing. Plus once I slide the pinion yoke on there isn't near enough thread to pull it down.

My old pinion is a slip fit on the outer... as is every other one I've done... not sure what happened on this one though.
most every axle I have ever geared you have to (press) the outer on as well. what I do is put the pinion in the housing slide the new outer bearing in with crush sleave or shims if needed and have someone with a long 4x4 hold pressure on the pinion while you use the yoke and a brass hammer to press it on
