I wouldn't hesitate to buy the Leica. We ranged an elk at 1150 yards in Colorado 6 or 7 years ago with mine. There was some small rocks to bounce off from but nothing huge and shiny. I have nothing but good to say about it. When we are hunting out west it is always the "go to" rangefinder amongst the guys out here. I bought it 8ish years ago and I have only put a battery in it once and it has never missed a beat.
