The Cota wireless charging system includes a charge-transmitting unit and a charge receiver. The charging unit in the video was only shown briefly, but it appeared to be a pillar-shaped piece of equipment that's about 6 feet tall.
Sounds like a Tesla Coil to me. But according to the article, it operates in the 2ghz or higher band (not too specific). This would transmit power without the fireworks of a usual 60hz Tesla coil, but I'm betting it's not a particularly efficient way to transfer energy.
