I drove with a lock right in the front of a TJ with no locking hubs for a couple of winters without issue. I rarely went into 4wd on road. The times I drove in 4wd on road it was through deep snow so it didn't bother me at all.

In 2wd, it didn't do much besides make clicking noises.

Based on my experience, the sparty will be fine.
