When I was in high school, we watched a show on homeless people in my government class. They were all in major cities like D.C. and New York. They talked to a couple "homeless" people. They said they were making anywhere from $40K to $50K a year tax free. Since seeing that, I refuse to give any person on the side of the road any money. I even saw one guy in Detroit get into a fairly nice car (i think at the time it was maybe a 5-10 year old Mercedes with rims) after pan handling outside of a concert.
Exactly....I've never understood why people choose to stand outside begging for money instead of looking for a job. There are jobs out there, even if it's min wage it's better than nothing. But I guess why should they? People give them money and apparently enough to make up to 50K a year, tax free
The only people I give money on the street are hookers and anyone that is taking donations for a cause, like boyscouts, veterans, etc
