Am I missing something? this doesn't look THAT bad, you could easily cut it with a good lawn at it's high setting, you're going to need one any ways, just go get one and cut it... should have done it this weekend, by next weekend it's just be worse, and then it will be YOUR fault, not theirs.
and about the peacock, feed it, it's cool. Girls would find it very cool too.
