Plywood between 4x4 posts works well, just make them wide and tall enough (so you are not shooting the hell out of the posts).

Intended use would be shooting I guess. No skeet (for now at least). Yes pistols. Yes hunting rifles. Long distance is still up in the air.

I have 20 acres to work with. I was thinking about starting out with 20 yards, then see how I like it. Then I would add to it for rifles.

I really like the log idea. I have plenty of fallen timber that I could put to good use.
