You're there to take out the trash. You're there to escort problem childs back to base when they've had one too many to drink, you're there to pick up the pieces when dude decides to beat his wife/kid/dog.
I guess I did not have enough imagination to see getting an education unrelated to law enforcement while being an MP. Being a civilian police officer sounded equally depressing - God bless the men and women who can deal with that mess.
Doesn't sound like your Dad ever realized why he did all those things for and with the men he served with. That puts him at the very bottom of the pile.
