Well I did gain over 2mpg by putting the aftermarket filter in it. That's the only plus I found. But its worth it to me. I went from 13.7 city to 16.1city. So that's an extra 80+ miles per 32 gallon tank. But working on medium and heavy duty diesels professionally for the last 7yrs doesn't make me an expert. I do not drive my truck daily. More like once a week and on trips. I only put 28k on it in 3yrs. I am happy with my 03. I do think I got lucky with a good truck though.
I am no expert I just feel reduced filtration for a possible 2mpg isn't worth it for me. Also an oiled filter on a forced induction motor is just stupid. No discussion no opinions just fact.
