The stinger case is slightly longer than the standard .22lr case, but the bullet on the stinger is shorter...giving it the same overall length as the .22lr round.

Most .22lr rifles/pistols can shoot stingers, unless you have a barrel with a match chamber which is shorter than the standard sporting chambers most barrels have. Some target .22lr rifles will have trouble extracting the shells for that reason.

I'm a big fan of the .17hm2, which is a necked down .22lr stinger case...not the standard .22lr case.
