A pure sine wave inverter provides a clean, stable electric signal that doesn't jump around like a cheap generator would produce. If you were running a drill or grinder it wouldn't matter much but sensitive electronics like computers, tvs or a microwave don't react well to messy electricity, it can damage the internal dohickys.

You could always buy a Honda eu2000 generator, which does all of what you want.
