Not much different than a normal mountain bike tire.

Essentially you have 1 ply tires (Cross country, cyclocross, normal people riding, etc.) and you have 2 ply tires (DH Racing and Freeride). These tires fall in under the normal category, they're reasonably tough and flats aren't much of an issue.
