Right on as far as 26 v 29. I do some riding with a group who all have cross bikes so having a 29er is essential to keep up... we are pedaling not riding like k-stand does.
when I raced moto we called it "flickability" how easy was it to toss around and "will" it to go where you wanted it. The 26 will be more "flickable" than a 29er, all depends on how you intend to use it. I still may get a cross bike one of these days, but for now gravel road riding will done on my 29er.
Yup, I've ridden a bunch of 29'ers and I just can't seem to like them, no matter how bad I want to jump on that fad.
My 26" bike is very very very playful, flickable, manuverable, however you want to phrase it, it's flat out 100 times more fun to ride than any 29'er i've sat on.
