The Marlin will be on sale in 2 weeks, don't know how much though. The 4300 is as low as it will go, I don't know if a 29er is more beneficial to me or just stick to the 26. Both are the same frame size basically (M is 15.5 and 4300 is 16). The 4300 has hydro brakes which to me seems to be a benefit.
I could use the difference from the sale price of the marlin to put toward some upgrades though. American Cycle says I could buy the marlin now and come back during the sale and get 110% of the difference on a gift card for said upgrades.
Knowing me, I will be more off road than on and will attempt stupid obstacles and trails too
My fiance will keep me in check some of the time for rides though Stoney/Kensington etc.
hydraulic > mechanical brakes
IMO 26" > 29" tires.
But, I like to ride my bikes, not just pedal them.
A 29" bike will feel like it rolls faster and holds momentum better. a 26" bike will feel like you are working harder to pedal but will be more fun to corner, jump, and ride.
It's personal preference.
