I am starting with a 86 hp kingpin ford 60. I bought it and the rear sterling 10.25 for 300$....i had intended on swapping in a tacoma tcase and keeping it drivers drop but the high offset of the 80's ford 60's won't work.
So it is gonna get swapped to the passenger side....i am gonna have it set up to use 78-79 60 inner shafts which gives me a longer short side / shorter long side which is what i need. In a perfect world i would like to be able to run 29" spring spacing (stock Toyota) but i don't think i can get it there without custom shafts which i don't want. What i do think i can do is get it to 31.5" spring spacing (stock chevy)....with that sky manufacturing sells a new front hanger and offset shackles that will work perfect.
Beefy....your welded in the front right? How horrible is it on a trail only rig? I am gonna have to stay with hydro assist to start with due to funds.....you think it would be liveable on my rig with 38-40" tires
